Thusitha  at 26 seems to be a Leonardo da Vinci in the making, with an avid interest in anything and everything. He also has a Sherlock Holmesian quality about him ability to store information away in little compartments of his mind.

The young man it seemed was one with an inventive bent. He seemed worth probing into.

“His interests are indeed wide and varied. He subscribes to the theory that all subjects are inter-related and it is evidenced by his lifestyle.

                 Mental acuity he believes is achievable by sheer will. But he does not take a single path and confine mind-building to attaining analytical prowess but also enhances its aesthetic bent. “I believe in training my mind. In the western tradition I am learning classical piano and organ music. In the eastern tradition I am learning to play the violin and the flute,” he says.

                 But that is not all. He can already play the organ “ by ear”. “I play at function pretty often and these earning help fund my lab activities.” He has also built low cost synthesizer which he says is compatible with any electronic key board.

                 His mental exercises do not end here. He also follows yoga, and practices on improving his telepathy skills. “Yoga helps me relax,” he says. And telepathy…”I believe in telepathic communication. I think it is achievable. I have an uncle to whom I am very close, and often before he visits me, I get inkling that he will do so. Sometimes at home I play this game with my sister. I try to visualize what is in her mind… it is actually quite interesting.” He laughs.

                 He is also currently trying his hand at becoming ambidextrous. This he says is to develop both sides of the brain. “Generally it is one side of the brain that we put to real use. I want increase its capacity by developing the other side as well So as the first step I practice to write write with my left hand.”

                 It was curious. Here was someone who sourced everything he did to logic and scientific reason and was even the guinea pig where his experiments were concerned.          

                 “I read virtually anything and everything. Fiction philosophy, religions, social sciences…just anything which comes my way. Everything is inter-related. I do not think that there is any subject that is more important than another each complements the others”, he utters another truism. His depth and understanding of life far outweighs his chronological years. His never ceasing interest in an array of subjects is also amazing.

                  He seeks not to be an engineer or a scientist of the usual mien. “I want to be innovative. I want to be able assimilate whatever it is that I have gathered and innovate. Most of all, I will be concerned with the practical aspect of whatever it is that I do …… I also do not want to labeled as being one or another,” he says. He wants to be unfettered and able to roam in his inter-related universe, trying his hand at whatever he deems to of practical need.

                 And the underlying motto in his words is Everything happens for the best.

         Thusitha is not only a vibrant youth with multi talents, but also one who has grabbed the country’s attention having made more than 25 novel inventions and innovations to date.

         Perfecting the art of recording life on film is no easy task, but Thusitha, armed with loads of talent has turned out memorable pictures.   

         He has successfully recreated the unspoken bond that links humanity with nature and vice versa.

         His key words courage and determination has made him one of the few Sri Lankans to Achieve in the field of Electronics and Engineering such rare honors and as an all rounder in many fields.

Thusitha Thanthirige, the walking genius!

He is not one, but many molded into one. He was the youngest as an inventor to enter the Top Ten List in 1999.

He was the swimmer who established a record  swimming 106 lengths non stop for two hours. He is a freelance journalist reporting to several newspapers.

He is a photographer planning to hold an exibition in the new millennium, the Editor of the science and mathematics voluntary organization.

He is a musician intending to release an audio cassette including 16 instrumentals produced by his invention, “a high quality electronic- key board sequencing system”. And he is also an active member of 16 youth related societies.

A Brief History

The Sri Lanka Extremes Institute of Technology was, established by the Parliament Act No. 18 of 1984 as a non profit making Institute is conducting a Certificate Course in Graphics Design for those who are interested in Image manipulation, Page make up concepts, Web designing and pursuing a career in print / Electronic publishing, Advertising and Printing.

 

OUR ORGANIZATION

This Institute established in the year 2001, during training to over thousands students at our training centers in Colombo Leading Schools, as well as the country side schools such as Hambantota Districts. Stepping also into the sale of computers inventing more than 25 Inventions, Designing, Fabricating, so many Creations in National and International level and won more than 17 Awards in ever history in more than 20 fields, such as Inventions, Electronics, Photography,Vdeography, Music & Digital Creations, and computer and undertaking any kind of above related subjects, when required.

Thusitha Thanthirige started his invention at the young age of 12,by inventing a telephone for the Ananda College "Century Exhibition". However all hopes of recognition and achievement were dashed when he saw that his superiors have not submitted his invention to the exhibition by an oversight.

  1. He never lost his ambition; he was determined to succeed and went on to become the proud inventor of so many firsts in Sri Lanka. Among them, The Multi Channel Home Security System in Remote Control ,The Digital Die, High Quality FM Sound Broadcasting system, Auto Train Signal System, Low Cost Chemical Titration in PC & The Auto Lights.

  2. A remote control device to exchange secret messages, great protection system for vehicles. A remote control system to exchange messages in games, a low cost telecommunication device for computers ,Master Defensive Medical Instrument, The Super Scientific Water Heater And his latest innovation the first ever remote controlled digital scoreboard.

  3.  A product of Ananda College & Colombo he is the teacher of Electronics . He was also the editor of Sri Lanka Academy of Science and Mathematics Education  in the university of Colombo & a freelance Scientific journalist.

  4. With the number of first ever innovations in Sri Lanka, Thusitha is the epitome of success at such a tender age. His Keywords courage and determination, has made him one of the few Sri lankans to achieve such a rare honor in the field of Electronics & Engineering.

 

  An All rounder

  1. An all rounder of completely different fields,
    Thusitha P. Thanthirige has excelled in scientific
    technological discoveries, sports, art and trained his
    mind for the super miraculous powers of universe.
    While being at Ananda College from the tender age of 12
    ,he has been a photographer, swimmer, chess player,
    weight trainer and lifesaver.

    At the same time he had his interest also in scientific
    inventions, music and international awards for
    different fields and he's the younger and first time
    award winner for the "Top Most Outstanding Younger
    Person"(TOYP-1997) "The Most Outstanding Citizens
    Award(MOCA-1999)and "Best Young Write in Sri Lanka
    "(BYW-2000)….etc.

    Up to date he has invented-innovated more than 25
    inventions in Sri Lanka some of which are Remote
    Camera, Master Defensive Medical Instrument…so on 
    Thusitha is a freelance journalist and has been the
    youngest Editor of Sri Lanka Science Mathematics
    Education in university of Colombo. He is also the 
    pioneer of the "Power Lions Youth Club" and the leader
    of E.X.T.M, An electro music band that has composed

    An all rounder of completely different fields, Thusitha P. Thanthrige has excelled in scientific technological discoveries, Sports, Art and he trained his mind for the super miraculous powers of universe. While being at Ananda College from the tender age of 12, he has been a photographer, swimmer, chess player, weight trainer and lifesaver.

                     At the same time he had his interest also in scientific inventions, music and international awards for different fields and he’s the youngest and first time award winner for the  “Top Outstanding Younger Person” (TOYP-1997)“ The Most Outstanding Citizens Award (MOCA-1999) and “Best Young Writer in Sri Lanka” (BYW-2000)… etc.

                      Up to date he has invented – innovated more than 25 inventions in Sri Lanka some of which are Remote Camera, Master Defensive Medical Instrument … so on Thusitha is a freelance journalist and has been the youngest Editor of Sri Lanka Science and Mathematics Education in university of Colombo. He is also the pioneer of the “Power Lions Youth Club” and the group leader of E.X.T.M., An electro music band that has composed over 17 original songs.

    Electronic Innovator Thusitha P.Thanthirige won Commonwealth Asia award for the Excellence in youth work 2000-2001, which is sponsored and administrated by the Commonwealth Youth Programme (CYP), in England.

      

    The scheme began in 1995 and entire Commonwealth consists of 54 countries, Thusitha won this special individual award for the efforts to improve status of youth as an all rounder in many fields.

     

    They will attend the training program on “ South-East Asia Regional Consultation on Youth and Volunteerism in Malaysia. The award presentation ceremony tentatively would be held on Grand Seasons Hotel, Kuala Lampur, Malaysia.

     

    Thusitha is an extremely rare young personality endowed with unimaginable outstanding talent in the field of electronics, as well as the other fields, such as leadership, sports, music and inventions/innovations…etc. He has   won a number of awards nationally as well as internationally (TOP 10,most Outstanding Citizen, Best Young writer of the Year) and  he invented more than 25 inventions/innovations in Sri Lanka.

INTRODUCTION

“INVENTION IS THE MOTHER OF NECESSITY” ….this statement has been my motto since I found the innovative drive  in my blood. All my creations has been based on the platform of necessity. Therefore I believe that every invention should be a tool to eliminate and lessen the amount of crisis situations faced by mankind.

 

My projects were designed to battle the problems that arose as a result of the lack of energy resources which led to electricity shortage. The contents of my report will unravel the ways in which I have strived to help in the conservation of energy. The report will basically serve as a medium in which the various uses of my projects are discussed.

 

SUMMARY 

Sri Lanka although being a country belonging to the third world is greatly renowned for her natural riches and beauty. Despite the benevolent generosity of mother nature this picturesque island of ours has been constantly subjected to various crisis situations during the recent years. One such misfortune was the electricity crisis that tore the heart of the country in the year 1996. Since then the power crisis has been an ongoing dilemma of this country. The lack of power resources not just jeopardized the household electricity supply but also saw the birth of an even greater misfortune which was the lack of water.

 

This was followed by a change in Sri Lankan time and a raise in electricity charges. All of these mishaps resulted in making life more distressful for the people of Mother Lanka.

 

This power crisis took its toll on me, and I took it upon myself to investigate the problem and discover possible solutions.

 

For the benefit of this summary I will put forward my humble discoveries, which in their own little but significant ways help the process of energy conservation.

 

1.       Low Cost Acetylene Lamp      - This low cost Acetylene lamp was

                                                               much more cost effective and  

                                                               safer than the traditional

                                                               Acetylene lamp.

 

2.Automatically Controlled

   Street Light  - This was designed to operate according to the changes of light                  that occur during the course of the  day.

  

 

3.       Super Scientific Heater 

This enables one to heat liquid to a   desired temperature within a  given period of time. There is mechanism to indicate that the liquid has reached the desired  temperature, and also the         possibility of keeping it at that   level.

            FROM  THIS  DEVICE   YOU  CAN  PREVENT  YOUR  HOUSE   OR  THE INSTITUTION   FROM  THE  THEIVES , WHEN  THEY  TRY  TO  OPEN  THE  MAIN  DOORS  FROM  THEIR  “SPECIALLY  DESIGNED  KEYS’’.

            THIS  INVENTION  WILL   AUTOMATICALLY  LOCKED  THE  DOORS  WHEN  THE  HOUSE  OWNER   IS  LOKING  THE  DOOR  FROM  HIS TRDITIONAL   AND  MECANICALY  OPERATED   DOOR  LOCK  SYSTEMS .IF THE OWNER  WANTS  TO  REOPEND   THE  DOOR  ,  HE  HAVE  TO  PRESS  SPECIALLY  DESIGNED  SECRECT  NUMBER  WITHIN  SHORT  PERIOD  OF TIME,  NORMALLY  LESS  THAN  FIVE  SECONDS .

 

 STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM 

The problem I focused upon was the power crisis during the year 1996. The lack in resources of power was a pre dominant issue during the past couple of years and it has been responsible for  rather grave financial , economic and social problems which have grown along the times. The lack of power resources was but a minuscule part of the entire problem.

           Do you believe in miracles? Yes I do. My very existence in this world is a miracle. My life is the greatest of all miracles as far as my presence in this little planet is concerned. However millions and millions do not see the light of the day. They do not get a chance to live in this world- a chance to see the magnificent beauty of this universe, the marvelous aspects of creation. I am personally privileged to experience life- the wondrous gift of in this world. You too enjoy the same privilege. All of us must be eternally grateful to your mind and the whole universe.

 Apart from the miracle of life there are also other miracles, which cannot be explained by natural causes. They belong to the supernatural realm and consequently are a puzzle to the modern mind. Some of the miracles talking places in the medical sphere where medicines had failed to answer but faith sustained the hope of individuals, are a frequent phenomenon are we are witness to some of them. People suffering for incurable diseases and who come out triumphantly after faith – experience, have way to expressing their gratitude to the all mighty, even to some Saints.

The man is the part of universe. He is the center of nature. But the enslaved to life and lives on false, hopes and illusions. He spends his life ignorance experience in joy and sorrow, success and failure, love and grief, without ever really coming to the ultimate realization of the liberating freedom that TRUTH brings.

Just as an image cannot be reflected in a dusty mirror, so the minds of an average person are habitually obscured by ignorance, illusion and egocentricity. But we have a definite aim for life. Life is live, and we have to live life freely and sensibly, to discover the miracles on universe.

Yes. Miracles do happen!  

For those who believe no explanation is necessary. For those who don’t believe no explanation is possible
